0: In/Out Check
Studio 3/Mac OSX
- ----- Start-up sequence ---------------
- Turn 828mk2 off
- Plug mic into mic/guitar 1
- Restart the Mac
- 828 on while screen is blank
- Alesis RA-100 (amp) power on, L/R volume up (not too much!)

- input password (no caps), if you've forgotten, email me or ask Peter or Julio
----- End of Start-up sequence -----
- Draw the cursor to the bottom of the Mac's screen, the Dock will appear.
- Open Max/MSP
- Open Extras/Audiotester
- Start the patch
- Speak into the mic, and check the test tone
- If it's working, that's great!
- If it's not, then try this:
- Start-up sequence (see above)
- Apple menu/System Preferences
- Choose Sound
- Output tab = MOTU 828mk2
- Input tab = MOTO 828mk2
- Close window (red cross, left hand corner (opposite to Windows!)
- Open Max/MSP (see above)
- While in Max/MSP, go to Options/DSP Status, and choose the following in order:
- Driver: CoreAudio MOTU 828mk2
- Input Device: MOTU 828mk2
- ...towards the bottom of the window...:
- Output Channel 1: 1 Output
- Output Channel 2: 2 Output
- N.B., there should be 14 outputs available in the pop-up window. If there aren't you've done something wrong! Start again!
- Close DSP Status
- Open Extras/Audiotester
- Start the patch
- Speak into the mic, and check the test tone
- If it's working, that's great!
- If it's not, then start again!
Audiotester is called a patch. Patches are Max/MSP's primary interface with us.
Have a look at this, and this.
