Isadora Instructions 1

1. Download the examples from the Isadora website if necessary 
(it's already downloaded to the Isadora directory on University machines);
2. Unzip
3. Make a copy of these resources and note where you've kept them.


Play Movie
1. Lauch Isadora;
2. Choose menu item File/New (or command-N);
3. In search box in the upper left of window type "movie";
4. From results click on "Movie Player";
5. Move mouse into the main area.  The cursor should change to a plus;
6. Click anywhere in the main area.  The Movie Player actor should appear;
7. Type "proj" into the search box;
8. From results click on "Projector";
9. Add that to the main area, to the right of the "Movie Player";
10. On the right of the actor "Movie Player" click and hold on the dot next to 
	the word 'video';
11. Drag the mouse to the dot to the left of the word 'video' on the Projector 
	actor.  A line should appear connecting these two dots.  If a line does not 
	appear, try again...
12. Choose menu item Windows/Show Media (or command-M);
13. Right-click in the window that appears and choose 'Import Media' from this 	
	menu;
14. Choose a movie file (mov or avi will do).  If there's a problem go to the 
examples directory you downloaded above;
15. Your imported movie should be available as movie '1' of the 'movie' 
	parameter in the "Movie Player" actor.
16. Play your movie and play around with the settings;  
17. You can adjust how you see the movie using Output/Force Stage Preview and/or 
Output/Show Stages.  Details of how stages can be displayed are included in 
Isadora/Preferences/Stage

Feedback Example
1. Lauch Isadora;
2. Choose menu item File/New (or command-N);
3. Choose menu item File/Open... (or command-O);
4. Open the "Isadora Examples" item mentioned above;
5. Along the bottom of the screen find the button called 'Feedback' and click on it;
6. Right-click, or control-click on the display area and choose "hide controls";
7. Select all of the objects in the top part of the editing area of the screen and copy;
8. Paste them into your new window;
9. Import your movie as above;
10. To make the function clear, click on the words 'horz zoom' in the Zoomer 
actor and set the 'Scale Min' to 0 (zero).  Do the same with the 'vert zoom' 
parameter.
10. Play with the mouse and the other parameters.  Try ' play start' and 'play 
length' in the Movie Player.
